TAIPEI - According to Taiwan's Ministry of Defense 45 Chinese military aircraft and 6 PLA Navy (PLAN) vessels were spotted around the island of Taiwan on May 15th, 2024. The number of military aircraft spotted around the island today is greatly elevated.

Of the Chinese military aircraft spotted there were "main and auxiliary fighter aircraft and UAVs [drones]", 26 of which crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered into Taiwan's northern and southwestern air defense identification zone (ADIZ).

Taiwan tasked CAP aircraft, Navy vessels, and land-based missile systems to respond to the Chinese activities around the island.
