TAIPEI - Taiwan's Ministry of Defense reported 49 Chinese military aircraft operating around the island of Taiwan on May 23rd, 2024 as China continues to carry out “Joint Li Chien-2024A” military drills to the northern, southern, eastern, and western parts of the island.

China Holds Military Drills Around Taiwan, Says It's A "Stern Warning" Against Outside Interference

BEIJING - The Chinese Eastern Theater Command has begun carrying out military drills dubbed "Joint Sword-2024A" around the island of Taiwan starting at 7:45 in the morning on Thursday and involving vessels and aircraft closing in on targets around the island of Taiwan.

Taiwan's MOD released a statement condemning the drills as jeopardizing regional peace and security, and said that they stand ready "with firm will and restraint" in light of the ongoing drills around the island.

"We seek no conflicts, but we will not shy away from one. We have the confidence to safeguard our national security," it said, adding, "We call for the international community to condemn PRC’s irrational action."
