TAIPEI - According to Taiwan's Ministry of Defense 32 Chinese military aircraft and 5 PLA Navy (PLAN) vessels were initially spotted around Taiwan, and then later 20 more military aircraft were spotted entering the island's southwestern, southeastern, and eastern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

The MOD also reported that the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center (JSLC) launched a satellite with a carrier vehicle and that its flight path passed through the island's ADIZ, but added that it posed no threat to Taiwan.

The Chinese military aircraft spotted included fighter jets and drones with 29 crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entering the island's southwestern, southeastern, eastern, northern, central, and southern air defense identification zone (ADIZ). Initially, 20 crossed, then later 9 more.

The number of military aircraft spotted around the island today is highly elevated.
