The Israeli military is conducting operations in this area, consistent with recent activities across Iran aimed at disrupting Iran's military and nuclear infrastructure.

A designated zone, approximately 2 km (a little over a mile) in radius around the Arak-Khandab road, has been marked as a high-risk area, with advisories issued for all personnel and civilians to evacuate immediately.

No confirmed damage to the IR-40 reactor has been reported as of yet, though satellite imagery from June 2025 shows ongoing construction activity, with the reactor being inactive and under construction.

Reported Impacts

  • Evacuations: Advisories have prompted the evacuation of the designated 2 km radius area, with an estimated population displacement pending further verification.

  • Infrastructure Risk: Potential targeting of the IR-40 and associated heavy water production plant, though structural integrity remains intact based on available imagery.

Key Statements

  • The advisory states, "The Israeli army is operating in this area, as it has been doing throughout Iran in recent days to attack the Iranian regime's military infrastructure."

  • Citizens are urged, "For your safety and health, we ask that you leave the designated area on the map within the cities of Arak and Khandab as soon as possible."
