KERMAN, IRAN - The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for multiple bomb blasts that killed at least 103 people and injured over 200 in Iran during a memorial ceremony and procession commemorating the 4th anniversary of the killing of Iranian General and head of Iran's Quds Force Qasem Soleimani in Kerman, according to Iranian state television. Casualty numbers are still being assessed.

Iran's official state news agency IRNA reported that the first explosion occurred in the city of Kerman about 0.4 miles from Soleimani's place of burial and a second explosion occurred a little over half a mile away from the first explosion.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which Kerman's deputy governor described as a "terrorist attack", but the Islamic State (IS) as well as other Sunni groups have carried out attacks in the region before.
