INDO-PACIFIC - China carried out live-fire naval exercises to the north of the island of Taiwan in the East China Sea on Tuesday while the United States and allies carried out their own military exercises in waters in the Western Pacific.
China’s Maritime Safety Administration issued a no-sail zone warning from the morning until the afternoon on Tuesday for a region near Taizhou City in the Zhejiang province.
China had recently deployed aircraft southwest of the island of Taiwan one day before the US-led Large Scale Global Exercise (LSGE) was scheduled to begin, which military experts say was partly due to military training, but also in order to surveil the military activities by the United States and allies, according to a report by Focus Taiwan.
On June 9th, the 7th Fleet announced that vessels from the Japanese, French, and Canadian navies were joining two U.s. Navy carrier strike groups in order to "operate as a unified force" in the Philippine Sea.
