WATERS NEAR INDIA/YEMEN - There has been an attack by an Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) on a vessel in waters near India that has caused an explosion on the ship. The attacked vessel is an Israeli-affiliated chemical tanker, according to a British maritime security firm. Israeli media believes the drone was launched from Iran.
The fire has been reportedly extinguished and there were no reported casualties as a result of the drone attack on the vessel, but further incidents have been reported near Yemen.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which occurred about 200 nautical miles South of Veraval, India. The United Kingdom Trade Operations (UKMTO) has advised all vessels to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.
The British maritime security firm Ambrey has said that the vessel that was attacked was a Liberia-flagged merchant vessel that was affiliated with Israel. The chemical tanker was traveling from Saudi Arabia to India.
