MIDDLE EAST — The Minervagracht, a Dutch-flagged general cargo ship, came under attack 128 nautical miles (237 km) southeast of Aden, Yemen. The vessel was struck by an unidentified explosive device, resulting in substantial damage and a fire on board.
The ship is adrift, with crew members being evacuated by helicopter to nearby vessels. The attack occurred in international waters, marking another incident in the region amid ongoing threats to commercial shipping.
The Minervagracht, operated by Spliethoff, carries a crew of 19 from Russia, Ukraine, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. Two crew members sustained injuries during the attack.
