PENTAGON - US Defense Officials said on November 13th that over the last 24 hours, there had been four additional attacks on US forces based in Iraq and Syria, bringing the total number of attacks within the last month to 52.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said during a press conference on Monday in Seoul, South Korea, "These attacks must stop, and if they don't stop, then we won't hesitate to do what's necessary, again, to protect the troops".

The United States currently has around 2,500 American troops stationed in Iraq and around 900 stationed in Syria as part of an effort to keep the Islamic State terrorist organization from resurging in the region.
