Guanajuato State Declares All Incidents Contained After Spillover Violence Linked to Jalisco Operations – 23 Municipalities Affected

GUANAJUATO STATE, MEXICO — The Secretaría de Seguridad y Paz (SSP) of Guanajuato issued an official communiqué on February 22 stating that all incidents related to the federal operations in neighboring Jalisco have been brought under control.
The statement confirms that events occurred in 23 municipalities but were fully contained by 1:30 p.m. local time with no fatalities reported (saldo blanco).
Authorities emphasized that all state and federal highways remain open and free of blockades, with no risk to travelers.
The airport is operating normally and state prisons reported no incidents. Security forces, supported by the Mexican Army, National Guard, and municipal police, prevented several attempted vehicle burnings and carried out multiple arrests.
The SSP strongly warned the public against sharing false information and artificially generated images of fires circulating on social media, urging citizens to rely exclusively on official government channels.
