Israel Begins Strikes On Houthi Targets In Yemen, Power Outage Reported In Al Hudaydah
Local Houthi-controlled media: Israeli strikes have begun to target Al Hudaydah, Yemen.
YEMEN - Local Houthi-controlled media: Israeli strikes have begun to target Al Hudaydah, Yemen. The attacks are in response to repeated ballistic missile attacks on Israel by the Houthi.
A power outage is now being reported in Al Hudaydah. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, focusing on the ports of Al Hudaydah, Ras Isa, Salif, and the Ras Kanatib power plant.
Executed by IAF fighter jets with support from the IDF Intelligence Directorate and the Israeli Navy, the operation targeted infrastructure used by the Houthis to transfer Iranian weapons for terrorist attacks against Israel and its allies.
The strikes responded to Houthi aggression, including UAV and ballistic missile launches on Israel. Notable targets included the port of Ras Isa, where the seized Galaxy Leader vessel aided radar tracking, and the Ras Kanatib power plant, crucial for Houthi military power supply.
Israel carried out over 20 strikes on Houthi targets in Hodeidah, Yemen. Locations included key ports used by the Houthi organization.
The Israeli Air Force has reported that the Galaxy Leader car carrier vessel that was captured by the Houthi in November of 2023 while en route from Turkey to India was among the targets.
According to Israel, the vessel was being used by the Houthi organization as a radar station for vessel tracking.
Houthi-aligned Yemen Armed Forces Spokesman: “Yemeni air defenses effectively confronted the Israeli aggression, forcing a large portion of its formations to withdraw. This was achieved with a massive barrage of locally manufactured surface-to-air missiles, which caused great confusion among the enemy's pilots and operations rooms. “
