Israel Carries Out Airstrike In Qatar, Targets Hamas Leadership in Doha
The operation marked Israel's first military action in Qatar, which has hosted Hamas political leaders since 2012.
MIDDLE EAST — Israeli forces conducted a targeted airstrike against senior Hamas officials in Doha. Multiple explosions occurred in the Katara District, with smoke rising over residential buildings.
The Qatari Civil Defense secured the area promptly. Civilian casualties were not confirmed immediately. The operation marked Israel's first military action in Qatar, which has hosted Hamas political leaders since 2012.
Targets included Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas's Gaza chief, and Khaled Mashaa, a veteran leader. Reports currently conflict on their survival.
While Hamas indicated that the strike was aimed at negotiators and disrupting ceasefire discussions, Israeli officials said that the action neutralized threats from those planning attacks.
