Israeli Airstrikes and Sanaa Airport. Israeli Military: "Successfully Completed The Mission"
The Israeli military reported a complete shutdown of the airport after the strikes and also reported striking several central power stations.
ISRAEL/YEMEN — On May 6, 2025, Israel began conducting airstrikes (military operations targeting specific infrastructure) on Yemen's Sanaa International Airport, according to Yemen's Houthi-owned Al Masirah TV, and the Israeli military, which reported a complete shutdown of the airport after the strikes and also reported striking several central power stations.
Previous strikes by Israel on the Hodeidah Port and a concrete factory in Bajil, Yemen were also carried out in response to Houthi missile attacks, including an attack near the Ben Gurion Airport on May 4, 2025.
The operation, named "Port City," involved approximately 20 fighter jets and 50 munitions, with Houthi sources reporting multiple deaths and a number of injuries. Later that day, Israel issued an urgent evacuation warning for Sanaa International Airport before strikes were carried out on the airport.
These actions escalate tensions in the region, disrupting Houthi capabilities and raising concerns about civilian impacts. The strategic importance of Hodeidah and Sanaa underscores the risk of broader conflict involving regional and global actors.
