Israeli Military Actions and Border Reinforcement in Southern Syria
These actions followed Syrian government advances into Druze-held areas, prompting Israel to reinforce its border presence with additional troops, tanks, and drones in the Golan Heights.
ISRAEL/SYRIA — On July 15-16, 2025, Israeli forces conducted airstrikes on Syrian military targets in southern Syria, including tanks, rocket launchers, and army headquarters in Damascus, amid clashes between Syrian government forces and Druze militias in Suwayda.
These actions followed Syrian government advances into Druze-held areas, prompting Israel to reinforce its border presence with additional troops, tanks, and drones in the Golan Heights to prevent potential infiltrations and militant buildup near the frontier.
The strikes aimed to block Syrian military access to the region and protect Israeli security interests, while addressing incidents of civilians crossing the border.
