Japan Protests, China Denies Fighter Jet Radar Locks on ASDF Aircraft Amid Pacific Tensions
China’s Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang rejected the allegations, claiming Japanese aircraft engaged in dangerous interference and calling for restraint.
INDO-PACIFIC — Chinese J-15 fighter jets locked fire-control radar onto Japanese Air Self-Defense Force F-15 aircraft twice over international waters southeast of Okinawa on December 6.
Japan’s Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi described the actions as extremely regrettable and lodged a strong protest, demanding preventive measures. Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi viewed the incident as extremely disappointing and committed to calm and resolute actions while strengthening surveillance.
