PYONGYANG - On January 26th, North Korea announced that it had conducted a test-fire of an underwater surface-to-surface cruise missiles the previous day (January 25th, 2025), adding that the missiles flew 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) in distance with a flight time of approximately 125 minutes.

A separate statement from the North Korean Foreign Ministry claimed that the United States and South Korea have been staging "military provocations" in the form of joint Ssangmae air drills around the Korean Peninsula.

The statement said, "Recently, the U.S. and the ROK are staging serious military provocations aiming at the DPRK one after another, adding a danger variable to the unstable security environment on the Korean peninsula and in the region."

It added, "The DPRK Foreign Ministry is closely watching the military provocations of the U.S. and the ROK escalating the tension on the Korean peninsula and seriously warns them that such moves will entail a reflective counteraction."
