North Korea Says It Sent 3,500 Balloons Into South Korea
North Korea says it will stop sending balloons into South Korea, but that if the South continues to scatter anti-Pyongyang leaflets, North Korea will respond with "a hundred times the amount".
PYONGYANG - North Korea says that from the night of May 28th to June 2nd, the country scattered 15 tons of wastepaper (also translated toilet paper) over its border with South Korea, which it says was carried out using over 3,500 balloons "of various sorts".
The statement went on to say that the country will not send any more garbage-laden balloons over its border with South Korea, but that if the South continues to scatter anti-Pyongyang leaflets, North Korea will respond with "a hundred times the amount of scattered leaflets".
The South Korean National Security Council (NSC) came to a decision on Monday to suspend the country’s 2018 inter-Korean reduction pact with North Korea until “mutual trust is restored,” according to South Korean media, in response.
