SOUTH ASIA/MIDDLE EAST — Afghan Taliban authorities announced on February 26 that their forces initiated large-scale offensive operations against Pakistani military installations along the Durand Line.
The strikes came hours after the Afghan Taliban launched a cross-border offensive on February 26. Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that Pakistani forces are delivering “a befitting and effective response […] that will continue to do so.”
The developments represent a significant escalation in border tensions that have intensified since major fighting in October of last year.
