PERSIAN GULF, Qatari authorities and UK Maritime Trade Operations confirmed a commercial cargo vessel in Qatari territorial waters sustained a strike on the morning of 10 May. The vessel was en route from Abu Dhabi to Mesaieed Port when it was targeted.
A limited fire broke out onboard but the crew extinguished it with no reported injuries. The ship continued to the port under coordination with relevant authorities.
UKMTO Warning 056-26, issued at 3:01 a.m. UTC, stated that the master of a bulk carrier described being hit by an unknown projectile 23 nautical miles northeast of Doha. The small fire was extinguished. No casualties or environmental impact occurred. Authorities continue to investigate.
