INDO-PACIFIC — On June 20, 2025, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense reported a significant escalation in Chinese military activity, detecting 50 military aircraft and 6 naval vessels operating around Taiwan.
This marks a sharp increase over recent daily averages, which have recently typically remained below 10 sorties, and exceeds the 25 sorties and 7 vessels recorded the previous day, on June 19th.
Of the 50 sorties today, 46 crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering Taiwan’s northern, southwestern, and eastern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
