Trump Sets 8 PM Deadline for Iran as Tehran Submits 10-Clause War Termination Proposal via Pakistan
Vice President JD Vance said the United States expects an Iranian response by 8 PM ET and that U.S. forces struck military targets on Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf.
MIDDLE EAST — President Trump posted on Truth Social on Tuesday that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” setting an 8 PM Eastern Time (ET) deadline for Iran to respond to U.S. terms.
Trump stated that the United States now has “Complete and Total Regime Change” in Iran, claiming Iran’s government has already changed and “different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail.”
Hours before the deadline, Iran submitted a 10-clause counter-proposal through Pakistan for the permanent termination of the war, rejecting the concept of a temporary ceasefire, according to Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
The proposal includes ending hostilities in the region, establishing a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, reconstruction, and the lifting of sanctions.
Vice President JD Vance said the United States expects an Iranian response by 8 PM ET and that U.S. forces struck military targets on Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf. The White House listed four specific war objectives on April 1; none referenced changing Iran’s government.
Separately, three gunmen attacked the Israeli consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday; one attacker was killed and two were captured by Turkish security forces. Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a separate statement on the same day on the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by an Israeli minister.
