UAE Announces Voluntary Withdrawal of Remaining Forces from Yemen Following Saudi-Led Airstrike on Mukalla Port
The Saudi coalition said that the targeted shipment supported the Southern Transitional Council, violating agreements and threatening stability.
YEMEN — On December 30, the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense declared the termination of its remaining counter-terrorism personnel in Yemen, following a Saudi-led coalition airstrike on Mukalla port targeting alleged unauthorized military equipment from the United Arab Emirates.
The Saudi coalition said that the shipment supported the Southern Transitional Council, violating agreements and threatening stability.
Yemen’s presidential council responded by canceling its defense cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, ordering Emirati forces to depart within 24 hours, and imposing a 72-hour ban on borders, airports, and seaports with exceptions approved by Saudi Arabia.
