ARABIAN SEA — The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued Warning 049-26 on May 2 detailing a reported approach to a bulk carrier 84 nautical miles southwest of Al Mukalla, Yemen.

On the same day, the Joint Maritime Information Center released Advisory Note 003-26 providing updated guidance on humanitarian shipment movements through areas under blockade enforcement in the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea.

UKMTO Suspicious Activity Warning Details

UKMTO Warning 049-26 was issued on May 2 stating that it, “has received a report of a suspicious approach 84NM southwest of Al Mukalla, Yemen.”

The master (ship captain) of a bulk carrier “reported being approached to within 500 metres by 1 green hulled skiff which was accompanied by 1 white fishing vessel.”

Vessels are advised “to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO while UKMTO continue to investigate.”
