Update On Merchant Vessel Verbena Hit By Houthi Missiles In Two Separate Attacks
Iranian frigate IRIN Jamaran was 8 nautical miles out from the merchant vessel Verbena when the distress calls were placed, but the Iranian vessel did not respond.
YEMEN - Update on merchant vessel Verbena, the Ukrainian-owned, Polish-operated bulk cargo carrier hit by Houthi missiles on June 13th during two separate attacks.
The crew of the Verbena issued a distress call indicating their intention to abandon the ship. Merchant vessel Anna Meta responded to the distress call in order to render assistance to the crew.
The Anna Meta recovered the mariners and is currently transporting them to safety. The evacuation was carried out after the crew abandoned the vessel due to continued fires and the inability to keep them under control.
