SOMALIA — U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike against ISIS-Somalia on October 20 in the Golis Mountains southeast of Bossaso. The operation, coordinated with the Federal Government of Somalia, sought to degrade the group’s operational capacity.
On the same day, Somali National Armed Forces killed 10 Al-Shabaab militants in the Bakool region, destroying two armed vehicles during the engagement. Security forces conducted a nighttime raid in the Hiraan region, neutralizing seven Al-Shabaab fighters.
Somalia’s Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi visited Awdheegle on October 19 to assess security and humanitarian conditions. U.S. involvement supports regional stability through targeted strikes.
