US Carries Out Airstrike In Somalia Against ISIS, Terrorist Attack In Nigeria Results In Dozens Of Casualties
U.S. Africa Command executed an airstrike on January 21 in the Golis Mountains, approximately 66 kilometers southeast of Bossaso, eliminating multiple ISIS-Somalia militants.
SOMALIA AND NIGERIA — Somali security forces captured five militants in a targeted operation in Muqdisho on January 23 seizing explosives, weapons, and vehicles linked to Al-Shabaab and ISIS-Somalia, while a U.S. airstrike two days earlier in the Golis Mountains eliminated multiple ISIS operatives.
In northeastern Nigeria’s Borno State, a terrorist attack on a military center resulted in dozens of armed forces casualties, prompting airstrikes that killed over 40 militants and disrupted further assaults.
