US Carries Out Collective Self-Defense Airstrike Against al-Shabaab Militants In Somalia
The airstrike occurred in Beer Xaani, Somalia, approximately 35 km northwest of Cooperative Security Location Kismayo.
SOMALIA - According to a statement by U.S. Africa command on January 7th, 2025, the United States carried out a collective self-defense airstrike against al-Shabaab militants in Beer Xaani, Somalia on December 31st, 2024.
The statement said, “The initial post-strike assessment indicated the airstrike killed 10 al-Shabaab militants while no civilians were harmed. In addition to the airstrike, U.S. forces provided support to Somali forces by evacuating Soldiers that were attacked while fighting the terrorist group.”
