US, China To Resume Military-To-Military Communication
Defense officials have raised repeated concerns about the recent lack of communication between the two country's militaries.
WASHINGTON - A statement by the Department of Defense says that Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III is encouraged by the White House announcement that China plans to return to military-to-military talks after U.S. President Joe Biden met with Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first time since November 2022 on Wednesday in Woodside, California.
Although after the meeting Biden reiterated his stance that the Chinese president is a "dictator", Chinese state media lauded the meeting as a success, saying that it would be a new starting point for stabilizing relations.
