U.S. Continued Operations Against Houthis in Yemen to Secure Red Sea Navigation
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reports striking over 800 targets, killing hundreds of Houthi fighters and key leaders, and significantly degrading their missile and drone capabilities.
MIDDLE EAST — As of April 28, 2025, U.S. military operations continue to target Houthi rebels in Yemen under Operation Rough Rider, launched on March 15, 2025. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reports striking over 800 targets, killing hundreds of Houthi fighters and key leaders, and significantly degrading their missile and drone capabilities.
Supported by two Carrier Strike Groups—USS Harry S. Truman and USS Carl Vinson—the campaign aims to restore freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and reinforce American deterrence. The destruction of the Ras Isa oil port has disrupted Houthi logistics and revenue, though Iranian support sustains their operations.
