SOHOR: this week has seen "unprecedented escalation" with American and Syrian Democratic Forces on one side, and Iranian militias and the Syrian Army on the other.
SYRIA - U.S. forces at the Conoco gas field in Syria intercepted and shot down a drone targeting the Conoco base in Syria and responded with intensive shelling targeting Iranian militias located in Al-Mari'iyah, Al-Jufra, Hawijat Sakr and the outskirts of the airport in Deir Ezzor.

The drone was intercepted and shot down before it reached the Conoco base, according to a translated report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which said that the drone was launched by Iranian militias from an unknown source and did not result in any serious damage to the base.
It added that this week has seen "unprecedented escalation" with American and Syrian Democratic Forces on one side, and Iranian militias and the Syrian Army on the other.
The escalation was centered around "mutual targeting, artillery shelling, and increasing military reinforcements," the report said, adding that there are growing concerns regarding the further escalation in the region.
Some of the escalation flashpoints pointed out by the SOHR included explosions and flares being launched into the air due to military training at the Al-Omar oil field, military aircraft flying over Deir ez-Zor airspace which is currently being controlled by the Syrian forces and pro-Iranian militias.
It added that drones are continually flying in the air over the region and that it does not know whether they are American or Israeli.
