US Issues Alert on Heightened Threat Environment Due to Iran-Israel Conflict
US citizens and organizations are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to secure their networks and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
MIDDLE EAST — On June 22, 2025, the US Department of Homeland Security issued a National Terrorism Advisory System bulletin highlighting a heightened threat environment due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.
The bulletin warns of low-level cyber attacks on US networks by pro-Iranian hacktivists and Iranian government-affiliated actors, targeting poorly secured systems. It also notes the potential for violent extremists to mobilize in response to Iranian religious rulings and the risk of hate crimes against perceived Jewish, pro-Israel, or US government/military-linked targets.
Similar cyber attacks have been observed since January 2020, and the bulletin is set to expire on September 22, 2025. US citizens and organizations are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to secure their networks and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
