STRAIT OF HORMUZ — US forces are conducting military operations north of the Musandam Peninsula while enforcing a blockade of Iranian ports across the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman, and North Arabian Sea.
The Joint Maritime Information Center has assessed the regional threat level as CRITICAL, and no new maritime advisories have been issued since May 29.
President Trump stated that Iran must forgo nuclear weapons and open the strait to unrestricted shipping in both directions without tolls or Iranian control.
He also called for the removal of any remaining water mines and the destruction of buried enriched nuclear material in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
As of May 30, the Situation Room meeting referenced in his statement has not produced a public outcome.
JMIC updates through May 28 noted significantly reduced traffic through the strait, ongoing mining threats near the traffic lanes, and persistent GNSS interference, with no confirmed maritime incidents in the prior 48 hours.
