WASHINGTON - White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan said that "innocent people were killed" after claims by the Hamas-run Gazan health ministry said 274 Palestinians were killed during the rescue and another 700 were wounded. There were no injuries reported by U.S., coalition, or merchant vessels. It was determined the UAS presented an imminent threat to U.S., coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region.

These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels.
