US Sending A Few Thousand More Military Personnel To Middle East, Israel To Carry Out Limited Operations Within Lebanon
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also said on Sunday that the United States will be temporarily extending the stay of the Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group and its squadrons in the region.
WASHINGTON - According to the Pentagon, the United States is sending a "few thousand" more military personnel to the Middle East to bolster security and aid Israel if necessary, in addition to the 40,000 personnel currently stationed in the region.
Multiple fighter jet squadrons are being deployed to the region Sabrina Singh had said to reporters, including F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16, A-10, and F-22 fighter jets, including the personnel to operate them.
The Israeli military has also declared the areas of Metula, Misgav Am, and Kfar Giladi in northern Israel a closed military zone and closed off the area. Entry to the area is now prohibited.
Update: The Saudi state-owned news agency Al-Arabiya is now reporting that Israeli tanks are currently carrying out an incursion into Rmeish, southern Lebanon. Lebanese media is also reporting heavy artillery fire in towns bordering Israel in Southern Lebanon.
