USS Mason Shoots Down Houthi Ballistic Missile Likely Targeting US Tanker In Gulf of Aden
The U.S.-Flagged, owned and operated merchant vessel chemical/oil tanker "Torm Thor" was targeted by a missile fired from Houthi-controlled Yemen.
GULF OF ADEN - The USS Mason (DDG 87) was reported by U.S. Central Command to have shot down an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) that was launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen into the Gulf of Aden, likely targeting a U.S tanker.
According to the report the U.S.-Flagged, owned and operated merchant vessel chemical/oil tanker "Torm Thor" was targeted by the missile. Neither the USS Mason nor the Torm Thor were damaged as a result of the attack, and none of the crew on either of the vessels suffered any injuries.
