Vessel Near Aden, Yemen Hit By UAV Drone On Port Side, Causing Onboard Fire
A fire was reported onboard the vessel and authorities are currently investigating the incident.
YEMEN - There has been an incident reported 60 nautical miles east of Aden, Yemen where a vessel was hit by an uncrewed aerial system (UAS Drone). A fire was reported onboard the vessel and authorities are currently investigating the incident.
Not long after the vessel was reported to have been hit, reports surfaced that a a U.S. vessel named “Genco Picardy” was attacked by Houthi militants in the same region.
The vessel was reportedly hit on its port side by the UAV drone, and the fire on the vessel has since been extinguished. The vessel’s crew are accounted for and safe and the vessel is currently proceeding to its destination. Vessels are advised to transit the Red Sea region with caution and report any suspicious activity.
