WEST BANK — On September 27, U.S. Embassy Jerusalem said checkpoints across the entire West Bank region will be closed from September 27 to October 3, and that there is no regular entry into Israel except for strictly medical and humanitarian reasons.
The embassy said Jerusalem ID holders can still commute and travel freely. It said Arbel permit holders cannot cross checkpoints even by shuttle.
It said exceptions can be considered only for medical and humanitarian reasons. It said more information will be shared if there are any significant changes to that policy.
The U.S. Department of State country advisory for Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza, reissued August 26 with no change to the advisory level, remains Level 3: Reconsider Travel for Israel and for the West Bank, and Level 4: Do Not Travel for Gaza.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) page for Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories was still current at September 27 and advises against all travel to Gaza and to named West Bank governorates, and against all but essential travel to most of the remaining West Bank.
Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) advises reconsider your need to travel to Israel overall and do not travel to Palestine. Global Affairs Canada, last updated September 24, advises avoid non-essential travel to Israel and avoid all travel to Palestine.
