YEMEN — On July 13 the defense ministry of Yemen’s internationally recognized government noted that its armed forces targeted the runway at Sanaa International Airport to prevent an Iranian plane from landing.

The Iran-aligned Houthi movement, which controls Sanaa and northern Yemen, separately reported that Saudi Arabia had conducted airstrikes on the same airport and noted that it would retaliate.

Smoke rose from the Sanaa runway after the incident, after which Iranian aircraft diverted and landed at Al Hodeidah Airport instead.
