TAIPEI - According to Taiwan's Ministry of Defense 25 Chinese military aircraft, 1 balloon, and 9 PLA Navy (PLAN) vessels were spotted around Taiwan on January 8th, 2025.
Of the military aircraft spotted, there were fighter jets and support aircraft, drones, a balloon (at an altitude of 19,000 feet 97 nautical miles northwest of Keelung City, Taiwan), and bombers. Nineteen of these crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered the island's northern, southwestern, and eastern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
