AFRICOM Conducts Airstrikes Targeting al-Shabaab in Lower Juba Region of Somalia

SOMALIA — U.S. Africa Command conducted airstrikes targeting al-Shabaab on June 18 in the lower Juba region, approximately 47 miles (76 kilometers) northwest of Kismayo, in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.
The command described the action as part of continued efforts alongside Somali partners to reduce the group’s ability to threaten U.S. forces and citizens abroad.
