DRC: Due to an increase in violence throughout the city of Kinshasa, the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa advises U.S. citizens to shelter in place and then safely depart while commercial options are available. N’Djili airport in Kinshasa remains open to commercial flights. We encourage U.S. citizens to depart via commercial flights when they feel like they can safely go to the airport.

There may be roadblocks and protests on the road to the airport which could impact travel time and security. The Embassy advises U.S. citizens in the DRC to review your personal security plans, ensure that your travel documents are up-to-date, and essential items are packed in bags that you can easily carry.

The U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa is closed to the public until further notice. If you need emergency assistance, please contact the Consular Section at +243 81-556-0151/0152 or +243-972-616-193 (after hours and weekends).
