Drone Sightings Disrupt Operations at Copenhagen Airport, Sightings Over Military Site In Oslo
On the same day as the Copenhagen closure, drone activity was reported over a military site in Oslo, Norway, resulting in the detention of two foreign nationals.
EUROPE — On September 22, multiple large drones prompted the suspension of all take-offs and landings at Copenhagen Airport. Police confirmed sightings of two to three drones in the area, leading to the diversion of approximately 35 flights to alternative locations such as Billund.
Helicopters were deployed to monitor the situation, and a significant police presence was established on the ground. The drones were observed moving in and out of the airport vicinity, including over the Øresund Strait between Denmark and Sweden.
This incident aligns with documented drone sightings in Scandinavia during 2025. In January, up to 20 drones were reported over Køge Harbor, an area used for military shipments to Baltic countries.
Police were notified of the sightings, which involved silent operation and rapid disappearance over Køge Bay. The Danish Police Intelligence Service investigated those events amid concerns over potential hybrid threats.
