Fizi Administrator Says Congolese Army Downed AFC-Linked Aircraft Near Minembwe

The shoot-down was reported to have occurred 19 miles (30 km) from the aerodrome in one set of remarks and about 25 miles (40 km) away in another. (discrepancy may be due to rounding).

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO — On Thursday morning, Fizi territorial administrator Sammy Kalonji Badibanga said soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) shot down an aircraft he attributed to the Alliance Fleuve Congo/March 23 Movement (AFC/M23) coalition and the Rwanda Defense Force near Minembwe in South Kivu.
