Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced, "Mass murderer Yahya Sinwar, who was responsible for the massacre and atrocities of October 7, was killed today by IDF soldiers", and called the killing a "military and moral achievement for the Israeli army".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the death of Sinwar is a major blow to the Hamas terrorist organization and the group's control within the Gaza Strip, but added that the mission is still unfinished.

"Today, evil took a heavy blow — the mission ahead of us is still unfinished," Netanyahu said, adding that it was, "an important milestone in the sunset of Hamas' rule in Gaza," he stated.

U.S. President Joe Biden said in a statement, "This is a good day for Israel, for the United States, and for the world", and added, "There is now the opportunity for a 'day after' in Gaza without Hamas in power, and for a political settlement that provides a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike. Yahya Sinwar was an insurmountable obstacle to achieving all of those goals. That obstacle no longer exists. But much work remains before us."

Michael Herzog, the Israeli ambassador to the United States, said, "Today, the world is a safer place. Yahya Sinwar, the sadistic mastermind behind the heinous Hamas terror attack of October 7, has finally faced justice."

He added, "Like the elimination of Osama Bin Laden and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, taking out Hassan Nasrallah and Yahya Sinwar opens up significant opportunities for a better and more secure region."

A former Israeli security official said that Sinwar had been blocking all paths to any peace agreement with Israel, and the announcement of his death has given renewed hope for an agreement to be reached.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement that the United States "will redouble its efforts with partners to end this conflict, secure the release all hostages, and chart a new path forward".

General Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM Commander: "Congratulations to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on the elimination of Yahya Sinwar, the mass-murdering leader of the terrorist group, Hamas...Those who choose the path of terrorism should expect the same fate as Sinwar."
