IAEA Reports Drone Activity, Explosions and Military Sounds at Ukrainian Nuclear Sites

UKRAINE — On Thursday morning, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) team at Chornobyl was awakened by the sound of multiple explosions and was later informed that several drones were detected above the Exclusion Zone, approximately 3 miles (5 km) from the site, with the sounds being anti-aircraft fire.
The Chornobyl NPP site is located in the Exclusion Zone established following the 1986 nuclear accident. The statement reports air raid alarms heard nearly every day at the site over the past week.
