Israel Conducts Strikes in Southern Syria, Lebanon; Accelerates Arrow Interceptor Production Amid Regional Threats

MIDDLE EAST — On July 16, 2025, the Israeli Defense Forces carried out strikes on military targets belonging to the Syrian government in southern Syria, including armored vehicles loaded with heavy machine guns and weapons in the As-Suwayda area, as well as firing posts, weapons storage facilities, and additional military targets.
The operations aim to deter attacks on Druze civilians in the region and prevent escalation. In a related development announced on July 17, 2025, the Israeli Ministry of Defense signed a contract to accelerate production of Arrow interceptors, enhancing defenses against ballistic threats.
Commander of Israel's Northern Command: “We are operating decisively in the As-Suwayda area, striking regime targets in the region - we are increasing the pressure and the pace of the strikes. We also carried out strikes in Damascus and will continue to strike throughout southern Syria.”
