SOMALIA — On May 4, 2025, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike in Puntland targeting ISIS-Somalia, resulting in enemy casualties, according to the Somali Ministry of Defense, which commended the partnership and reaffirmed its joint commitment to defeating terrorism in the region.
On May 3, 2025, the Somali National Army (SNA) conducted a security operation along the Hudur-Ceel Garas road, 40km east of Hudur, Bakool, targeting Al-Shabaab (referred to as Khawarij by the Somali government, a derogatory term for the militants), securing the road for civilian passage and pledging to continue operations to eliminate all terrorist threats.
These recent actions are part of a broader campaign by the Somali Ministry of Defense and U.S. Africa Command to dismantle Al-Shabaab and ISIS-Somalia networks across Somalia.
