Suicide Bombers Kill At Least 12 Civilians In Pakistan, Including 7 Children
The initial bombings resulted in the deaths of the two militants who carried them out. Subsequently, six more attackers stormed the installation but were "eliminated" after an exchange of fire.
PAKISTAN - Multiple suicide bombers driving vehicles laden with explosives targeted a security installation in Pakistan on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 civilians, including 7 children, and injuring at least 30 others. (Casualty numbers tend to fluctuate at first).
The explosions breached the wall of a military base in Bannu, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, allowing additional militants to storm the installation before being repelled.
The initial bombings resulted in the deaths of the two militants who carried them out. Subsequently, six more attackers stormed the installation but were "eliminated" after an exchange of fire took place.
After the vehicles exploded, the roof of a nearby mosque came down, and indications include other buildings collapsed as well, causing additional civilian deaths.
“After a breach in the wall, five to six more attackers attempted to enter the cantonment, but were eliminated,” a security official said, adding, "The roofs and walls collapsed and that’s why we are receiving casualties."
The Rescue 1122 service said that they are actively looking for additional casualties underneath the debris of the collapsed buildings.
