Standard procedures initiated immediate tracking of the object. F-16 aircraft, operating under both national command and NATO structures, received alert reaction tasks to ensure airspace security.

Assessment subsequently identified the track as an uncontrolled unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). To prevent any potential incident, forces neutralized the UAV in a safe area outside residential zones.

The ministry stated, “It was struck and downed in a safe area outside of residential areas in order not to give rise to any negativity.” This precautionary engagement resulted in no casualties or damage.

The incident occurred amid heightened maritime security challenges in the Black Sea, including mid-December strikes on Ukrainian ports that damaged multiple Turkish-owned or operated civilian vessels transporting agricultural products and food supplies, as well as a separate drone engagement causing minor damage to a Turkish vessel transiting a grain corridor.
