U.S. Department of State Spokesman Thomas “Tommy” Pigott said increasing cross-border tensions between the two countries have the potential to affect the entire region, and that the Horn of Africa cannot sustain another military conflict and humanitarian crisis.

The statement said a conflict would jeopardize ongoing U.S. collaboration on shared interests with both countries, and that peace through dialogue is the only path toward security, economic growth, and prosperity.
